Lost all my Bertrice Small books in fire, so finally getting to re-read the series! Really need to start beginning of series to keep up with all the characters.
Unfortunately this is the last book she wrote with unhelpful true vivid Bertrice style. All others beyond this one were helped with a less vivid hand. There is no one like this woman.
Her books are normally good, but I hated this book. There should have been something to show her half brothers anger at not getting his half sister after he killed her husband. I would have liked to have read that. And her stepfather became her pimp, what was that? And her mother didn't even help her "REALLY" , that was not her mother from the other books, this mother was weak, she did NOTHING for her daughter. This was not a romance, this was just dirt sex, one part rape. THIS WRITER CAN DO MUCH BETTER.

This was the one book in the series Skye O'Malley that I was missing. Wanted to have it for the set. All of the books start to sound alike, but the women are of different generations in the same "horny" family.
I read my first book by Ms. Small in 1978. Having read this book years ago it was fun to read again. I have everyone of her books in paperback, and I am using a portion of my book budget every month to buy them all in the kindle addition. This book made me laugh, cry, and want to slap a few people. This book is a historical romance that is very accurate and detailed. You can't go wrong with this one

Her story is filled with scandals but much love. Follow her as she becomes a bride, a. Mother a mistress and how she denies a king his royal command. Enjoy!
